About: In the Fall of 2015 I joined up with previous teammates from the In The Court of The Yellow King game for an educational game competition hosted by Stride Academy. The goal was to make a mobile compatible mini game to add to Stride’s library of educational programs. I handled most of the design for the game and acted in an advisory role for the programmer during the course of the project. The design is deliberately simple. It is essentially a single input game where the player would click/tap and drag beakers with numbers on them to combine with another existing number beaker with the goal of producing a desired numeric result. The simplicity of the design allowed the game to be scaled for use with simple arithmetic problems of any difficulty. We started with single digit addition and subtraction, and later added modes with tougher arithmetic and multiplication. The game claimed first prize at the end of the competition.
