About: For the 2015 Spring 48 hour jam I worked with the team from the Flux project on a metroidvania time-trial platformer. When we began, we laid out a full mansion and accompanying underground area with rooms that could be backtracked through, and plans to populate them with Lovecraftian horrors and obstacles. Over the course of 48 hours we were able create a game area consisting of nine interconnected rooms and five different enemies to fight through, as well as three music tracks and a myriad of sound effects. The gameplay consists of running through the mansion, fighting monsters, and collecting five separated artifacts to bring to the front altar, which will summon the player to the boss room. The game is mechanically polished and essentially complete considering the amount of time we were allotted. “In the Court of the Yellow King” took home first prize at the end of the jam.
